## The question

How should a finding about immune-cell communication be connected to a clinical claim? This episode introduces a 28-residue peptide through its origins, laboratory biology and a defined human trial. It does not offer dosing or treatment instructions.

## Evidence decisions

**Origins.** Goldstein and colleagues reported the isolation and sequence of thymosin alpha-1 from calf thymus in 1977. The native graphic counts 28 residues without asserting a three-dimensional conformation. Chemically produced thymalfasin shares the amino acid sequence; a research reagent or compounded preparation should not be assumed equivalent to a studied finished product.

**Mechanism.** Experimental work involving dendritic cells and T-cell responses informs biological hypotheses. These findings are kept separate from clinical effectiveness. The artwork does not depict a proven peptide-receptor docking event.

**Clinical endpoint.** TESTS randomized 1,106 adults in China. The displayed mortality estimates use 1,089 participants in the modified intention-to-treat population: 127/542 (23.4%) and 132/547 (24.1%). The May 2025 correction revised the 28-day hazard ratio to 0.97 (95% CI 0.76–1.24). The graphic uses the corrected estimate, a common percentage scale, and no invented intermediate points. The result does not establish a mortality benefit or identical effects.

**Scope and safety.** These results concern a particular strategy in adults with sepsis. They do not establish a general wellness benefit or long-term safety. FDA's 2024 review states no FDA-approved products contained Ta1; orphan designation and compounding review are distinct from marketing approval. This episode does not claim that all international products have the same indications or regulatory status.

## Picture, sound and production

Four new artworks were generated for this film: the thoracic thymus, dendritic-cell/T-cell communication, a microvascular environment, and an empty intensive-care room. Each appears once in the picture sequence. No participant photographs or clinical outcome images are used. All study data, residue counts and typography are drawn natively.

The established blue-globe Peptides in 2 identity supplies the opening and closing, each held for at least two seconds. The complete spoken ending is “World Peptide Foundation. Peptides in 2. Every experience matters.” Montserrat uses the bundled SIL Open Font License.

One complete Tom narration was generated at normal speed. The whole recording is retained, including pauses: no time stretching, silence removal, replacement-word patching or dynamics processing of the voice. The existing series instrumental score is reused quietly with fades. No new music or Runway image/video generation was purchased. Runway use for this film is one 1,637-character narration, 33 credits; no sample was generated.

Transcription assists caption timing, while printed names and numbers follow the exact script. Embedded audio is compared numerically with the source recording through the full film. This technical process is not human listening or independent medical peer review. The user reviews the finished film.
